History is defined by its leaders. The United States specifically is a nation of rich history and worldwide esteem largely because of the multiple great leaders it has had. The President of the United States is often seen as the most coveted and influential position in the world. This fact was no more true from the period of 1932-1974, while the US was at the center of more than one dangerously hostile worldwide conflicts. The Presidents of the era had the task of not only doing their best to manage the intimidating international predicaments, but also of helping a nation that was socially decades behind other nations develop. Although the Presidents spanning from Roosevelt-Nixon made mistakes, some more costly than others, their powerful leadership is undeniable as the US was seen by most as the dominant world power in 1932, and as the dominant world power in 1974. The leadership of its Presidents throughout the era was some of the strongest the nation has ever seen, and an exemplar of what the Presidency of the United States should look like.
